Buildings on the Sidewalk in Front of Plumpang Transjakarta Bus Stop Demolished

Joint personnel took down a semi-permanent building standing on the sidewalk of Jalan Yos Sudarso, precisely in front of the Plumpang Transjakarta Bus Stop, Sungai Bambu Urban Village, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta.

Secretary of Sungai Bambu Urban Village, Bayu Sekar Pamungkas, said controlling was carried out collaboratively with Satpol PP and Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) personnel, involving local RT/RW administrators.

"The building is located in a location that is not its intended use and disturbs public interests," he said, Wednesday (9/30).

Bayu explained that the building was occupied by residents of the Social Welfare Service Recipient (PPKS). Based on data collection and coordination with the local RT/RW, the residents were identified as having ID cards as residents of Sungai Bambu Urban Village.

Apart from disrupting the function of the sidewalk, residents have complained about the existence of this building because it is often used as a gathering place.

"There are also those who are suspected of being drunk and disturbing residents who get off at the bus stop at night," he added.

According to him, the presence of buildings on the sidewalk also disrupts the planning of the area because the sidewalk is a public facility intended for pedestrians.

Meanwhile, Head of Sungai Bambu Urban Village Satpol PP, Asmawi, stated this activity was part of the arrangement of the area along Jalan Yos Sudarso.

Officers also took action against a vehicle that was parked illegally and provided guidance to two street vendors. 

"So that they would not operate in locations that disrupt public facilities," he stated.
